About

The DRB Ph.D. Program provides a rigorous and innovative training experience in stem cell, developmental and regenerative biology for Harvard graduate students. Given the myriad of scientific and medical achievements of the past decade, and the promise of advances to come, the DRB program seeks to train its students to approach biological questions in a highly integrative manner which cuts across traditional departmental boundaries to connect basic scientific research from a variety of disciplines with translational relevance and application to medical care.

In addition to world renown scientists, and exceptional research resources and core facilities, our program includes an inter-departmental curriculum that will 1) equip our DRB students with a comprehensive understanding of stem cell and organismal development and repair, 2) expose them to a wide variety of model systems and experimental tools to enhance their research, and 3) provide them with intellectual community-building activities and mentorship that will prepare them for a diverse array of scientific careers in academic, clinical, or industry settings and beyond.

Browse our Curriculum page to learn more about our course requirements and our Events page to discover the programs that make the DRB program a unique graduate training opportunity. To learn more about life as a DRB student, including where our trainees are currently conducting research and where our alumni have gone after Harvard, check out the Students section.

You can learn more about enrolling as a DRB degree candidate or program affiliate here. While DRB degree candidates must be members of the BBS program, enrollment as a DRB affiliated trainee is not exclusive to participation or inclusion in other Harvard departments or degree programs. To join our DRB list-serve to be informed of upcoming community events, please send an email to Kayla Nygaard, our curriculum fellow. The DRB Program is generously funded by the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology and the Office of the Provost, with additional support from Boston Children’s Hospital.

Faculty, do you want to join DRB? If so, please fill out this short form and email the DRB CF, Kayla Nygaard (kayla_nygaard@hms.harvard.edu).
